Introduction

For effective use of a Prints-On-Demand system, the operator requires an up-to-date set of skills in computer searching, image manipulation using PhotoShop or PaintShop Pro, and in the operation of large format printers. Prints-On-Demand brings together the traditional skills of the printer with those of the graphic designer, to produce a new class of work in a shifting set of industires. Prints-On-Demand is a "disruptive technology" that will force changes in a number of traditional market niches, and afford new business opportunities to those who embrace the technology.

Prints-on-Demand Systems & Operations

Cinemage has configured a number of different PrintStations for specific market environments. Shown here is a PrintStation based on a large format printer from Hewlett-Packard, the HP 5500. PrinStations can include scanning as well as CD input devices to allow operators to create Giclee works from customers' own images, as well as to purchase images from our Prints-On-Demand service at www.fineartprints.ca.

We have built the digital image collection by selecting artistic works from our stock photo collection, and by licensing additional works from local artists and photographing their artworks, scanning the photos, uploading them to our digital gallerie and cataloguing the works.

These images are then available for purchase in different resolutions, for printing on a choice of substrate. Substrates available are: satin& glossy photo paper, Fine Art paper, and canvas for stretching on a frame. Images can then be mounted, matted and framed to create a final piece of decorative wall art.

To download and print the reproduction, a PrintStation consisting of a computer connected to the Internet, with a large format printer attached, is required. A Dealer Account to access the Cinemage Fine Art digital gallery is also required. Customers can search the collection to find the images that they wish to purchase. The store will then print the image on a high-quality printer. Printing takes only minutes so the customer can walk away with a finished print. The customer will have the option of also having the print professionally mounted and framed.

See the Guides in this section for more detailed information on how to find and print an image from our collection.
