Knowledge Archiving refers to the building of mixed media collections of inter-related materials
that form a knowledge repository. A pilot knowledge archive was built first in cooperation with the Research
Branch of the BC Ministry of Forests, and subsequently in collaboration with a consortium called
the Northern Forest Research Partnership. Included in the Partnership was the referenced Ministry,
The University Of Northern British Columbia, and a consortium of forest companies.
The goal of the Partnership was to aggregate research results from the Ministry along with
research results from the University and reports and studies prepared by companies as part of
forest operations.
The collection was structures as three inter-relating databases, containing:
1. research project descriptions
2. publications (scanned documents)
3. photo collections
The knowledge archive can be viewed at:
Northern Forest Research
Partnership. Select GUEST PASS to enter the application.
The project was discontinued when Forest Renewal BC ran out of money.
