Introduction

Prints-On-Demand is a new concept facilitated by the affordability of new large format printers, the availability of fade resistant inks that are rated in the 80 to 100 year life range, and the proprietary Internet engine developed by Cinemage that allows for the secure hosting and delivery to a remore PrintStation digital images for reproduction.


Prints-on-Demand Systems and Service

Using large format printers from Hewlett-Packard, we have developed several PrintStation configurations for sale to regional print and framing shops. Working with our trial dealers, we have introduced a “print-on-demand” service operated under www.fineartprints.ca. We have built the digital image collection by selecting artistic works from our stock photo collection, and by licensing additional works from local artists and photographing their artworks, scanning the photos, uploading them to our digital gallerie and cataloguing the works.

These images are then available for purchase in different resolutions, for printing on a choice of substrate. Substrates available are: satin& glossy photo paper, Fine Art paper, and canvas for stretching on a frame. Images can then be mounted, matted and framed to create a final piece of decorative wall art.

To download and print the reproduction, a PrintStation consisting of a computer connected to the Internet, with a large format printer attached, is required. A Dealer Account to access the Cinemage Fine Art digital gallery is also required. Customers can search the collection to find the images that they wish to purchase. The store will then print the image on a high-quality printer. Printing takes only minutes so the customer can walk away with a finished print. The customer will have the option of also having the print professionally mounted and framed.

The advantage for the print shop is that they can make available a wider variety of images for sale without incurring inventory cost or having to order prints for later delivery. The advantage for the customer is also a wider selection of available images as well as almost instant turn-around on their purchase.
